Hi Roderick, glad you found this useful! I've done some volunteering in South America but it was mostly with horses. This said, I did come across a few lodges that were offering work and stay opportunities, if you have some Spanish that's very useful. You also need to be willing to live in very remote places with basic facilities. I unfortunately no longer have the names but seem to recall that I saw these on Workaway or a site called Volunteer Latin America. Best of luck!

Hi Alison, my name is Roderick Caruso. My partner and I arrived in Cusco today and I stumbled upon your Cusco guide which I found thorough but concise and full of exactly the info I was looking for. Thanks for writing it!

We work at a lodge in Denali National Park (https://campdenali.com/) from May to September and we have been exploring options for working at other lodges during our off-season in the coming years. Initially we were looking in Patagonia but after spending the last few weeks in Peru we are open to widening our search.

Asking around tends to give us better results than incessant googling and seeing your background (mine is in animal behavior, my partner's is in sustainable food systems) made me think I should drop you a line: Do you have experience with people/lodges in South America that would be worth contacting as we explore our options? My Spanish is weak but will be much stronger by next winter. My partner is fairly conversational. Ideally we would love to find work that includes lodging or pays enough to save a little rather than just subsist, although we aren't very picky.

Thanks again for your great guides! Keep up the good work, we hope to hear from you!
