Proposing At Machu Picchu – This Is How It’s Done!

30-year-old Sasha Scott’s man informed her that he was taking her to Luton on a business trip. It turned out to actually be a two-week jaunt to the ancient Incan city of Machu Picchu.

This was a short time after Scott, who performs a marketing role for Anglia Ruskin University, was given an all-clear after her second cancer scare, so it was her turn for some good news.

Boyfriend Dan Fisher recounted to the Cambridge News, “I wanted to do something special for her, and she always had Machu Picchu as one of her top places to visit.” He told her they were heading for a castle close to Luton but instead took her to the airport.

There was another surprise in store.

Scott related that the pair was “trudging up the hill” when Fisher stopped. He proclaimed that he would go to the ends of the Earth with her, leaving her thinking “That’s so sweet. You are so soppy.”

The soppiness, however, didn’t end there. He went down on one knee, produced a ring and popped the question. Scott declared, “It was absolutely magical.”

In return, Scott nominated Fisher for Mills and Boon’s newly-instituted “Romantics” awards. He was named the Most Romantic Hero at a ceremony held in London this last week.

Scott gushed, “He is really, really sweet on a daily basis; he has done some grand gestures, but he is really sweet every day.” Since she has in the past endured “some pretty horrible relationships,” she doesn’t wish to take her current situation for granted.

Scott described Fisher as “so romantic” and “my knight in shining armour.” Fisher was “flabbergasted” by his award, quipping that the last time he won anything was an egg-and-spoon race.

The two reside in Milton, a village north of Cambridge, having first intersected three years earlier at the Salon Rouge club night of Cambridge Junction, an arts venue.

Fisher, who is employed by Bodyworks Dance Studios, knew almost instantly that Scott was the gal for him. They got along famously and began chatting via Facebook.

He then lived in Bristol, but by their third date he knew he wished to shack up with her. He came to Cambridge to do just that.

Scott and Fisher’s wedding will be held in July at the home of Scott’s parents on Huntingdon Road and have an Alice in Wonderland theme – as Fisher affirmed, “Everyone’s dressing up in vintage clothing.” He stressed that the event will be “very informal” rather than “quite stuffy.”

There will be a profusion of canapés labelled “eat me.” Their honeymoon will be in the Maldives.

Machu Picchu was found to be one of the new Seven Wonders of the world following an internet poll in 2007. Surveys often put it at the top of people’s bucket lists.

In 2017 Dan Fisher became somewhat of a local hero by rushing to save a victim of a car crash.
